This is the type III Sling , and oiler for the M-1 Carbine rifle . The oiler is designed to hold the end of the carbine sling in place. The oiler slides into the butt stock well and the free end of the sling wrapped around it, then protruded to be secured to the sling band that is attached to the barrel band of the carbine . Original government issue , olive drab in color and the oiler is parkerized. Sling overall length : varies from 47 to 49.5 inches when the lift-the-dot end is closed. 1 wide. Oiler specs : overall length 2.30 , 0.44 diameter. In New or Excellent Condition.
